<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type display panel with improved quality of black color display. <P>SOLUTION: A reflection type display panel comprises: a reflection display panel 10 which has two substrates 11 and 12 so arranged as to face each other, transparent electrodes 13 and 14 formed on respective facing surfaces of the two substrates, and a reflective material layer 17 encapsulated between the two substrates and having a reflection state that changes with the voltage applied across the transparent electrodes; a light absorption layer 15 disposed on the back side of the reflection display panel; and a cut filter layer 19 disposed on the observation surface side of the reflection display panel. The wavelength at which reflection from the transparent electrodes is at minimum in the visible wavelength range corresponds with the dominant reflection wavelength of the reflective material layer in a reflection state. The cut filter layer has a spectral transmission characteristic of transmitting light in the wavelength range reflected by the reflective material layer in the reflection state and absorbing the reflection from the transparent electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
