The device (1) has an image pickup element (2) having a sensitive surface for electromagnetic radiation (4), and an imaging system (3) arranged in optical path of electromagnetic radiation. The image pickup element has a wavelength filter which filters electromagnetic radiation of specific wavelength ranges (W1-W3). The electromagnetic radiation projecting from a range of distance for different wavelength ranges is focused in image planes (B1-B3). A temperature sensor is provided to determine the operating temperature for selecting a wavelength range for data detection. An independent claim is included for image processing method.
