<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element capable of suppressing luminance unevenness and luminance deterioration in a pixel, expanding a light-emitting region in the pixel, and increasing the luminance for every pixel, and provide a manufacturing method for the same. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL element includes a substrate, a first electrode formed on the substrate, a partition wall formed on the substrate and surrounding the first electrode, a light-emitting medium layer formed on the first electrode within the partition wall, and a second electrode formed on the partition wall and the light-emitting medium layer. The light-emitting medium layer includes an organic light-emitting layer whose film thickness reduces as the distance from the partition wall is large. A first electron injection layer and a second electron injection layer are formed on the organic light-emitting layer. The first electron injection layer is formed so as not to cover an upper part of the partition wall.
