The head (1) has a combustion chamber wall (4) to seal a cylinder (5) of an internal combustion engine (2), where exhaust gas passes through an exhaust opening from the cylinder into an exhaust system. The head and an exhaust gas manifold are formed as a single-piece component i.e. cast part, and made of base material. Exhaust gas channels are defined by channel walls and extend from exhaust openings to an exhaust gas outlet in a side wall (7), where a surface of the channel walls is made of surface material. The surface material comprises metal, ceramics, hard material or hard material mixture, oxide or oxide compound, silicate, enamel and zircon oxygen compound. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an exhaust gas manifold.
