<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyamide porous film that has little difference in pore size between front and back sides and excellent breaking strength and piercing strength. <P>SOLUTION: The aromatic polyamide includes a structure represented by the following formula (1):-NH-Ar<SP POS="POST">1</SP>-NH-CO-Ar<SP POS="POST">2</SP>-CO-, wherein Ar<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and Ar<SP POS="POST">2</SP>each represents an aromatic group.
