<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can reduce power consumption while keeping convenience of an authentication means. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 1 checks a registered job memorized in a storage 23 and supplies the electric power to an authentication information input device 25 when the possibility of user authentication to be performed is high, namely when the elapsed time since the authentication information input device 25 is used last is shorter than the set time threshold, when the registered job newly memorized is the job that needs the user authentication, when the possibility of the user of the registered job to perform card authentication is high, and when there are many users corresponding to the registered job that needs user authentication. Accordingly, the need is eliminated for the user to perform input operation to supply power to the authentication information input device 25 by oneself, and to wait for the start time to become the user authentication in authentication information input device 25 available for user authentication, and as a results, waste of power supply can be reduced while improving convenience. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
