FLAME RETARDANT COMPRISING HIGHLY HYDROUS MAGNESIA SLAKED LIME AS ACTIVE INGREDIENT, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER MADE BY BLENDING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant that is mixed with especially a combustible polyolefin-based material among a thermoplastic resin and a thermoplastic elastomer and supplies the material with flame retardancy, is easily obtainable and inexpensive and emits no poisonous halogen gas in combustion, a composition of a flame-retardant thermoplastic resin and a flame-retardant thermoplastic elastomer made by blending the flame retardant, especially a flame-retardant ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.

SOLUTION: The flame retardant is highly hydrous magnesia slaked lime having an MgO hydration ratio of ≥60% as an active ingredient. The flame-retardant composition is obtained by mixing 50-250 pts.wt., normally 50-100 pts.wt. of the flame retardant with 100 pts.wt. of especially a combustible polyolefin-based material among a thermoplastic resin and a thermoplastic elastomer.
