<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an abnormal state of a light source drive part during reading of an image. <P>SOLUTION: An image reader 1 comprises: an image reading part 24 having light sources 31 and 41 and a light-receiving part 32 which receives light; a light emission control part 11 which outputs a current setting signal SG3; a light source drive part 16 which feeds a driving current corresponding to the current setting signal to the light sources to emit light; a current detection part 54 which detects the current value of the driving current I; a reading control part 11 which during the light emission by the light sources, controls the image reading part to read an image of a document M line by line along a main scanning direction; and an abnormality determination part 11 which if a current value detected by a current detection part during the reading is different from the reference value, determines that the light source drive part is in a first abnormal state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
