PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide microcapsule capable of releasing a sufficient physiologically active component at a slow speed, and to provide a method for effectively producing the microcapsule.

SOLUTION: There are provided a powdery sustained release microcapsule including a core containing a fat-soluble component containing the physiologically active component and a coating layer containing neutralized gum arabic and/or a carboxymethyl cellulose for coating the core, and the method for producing the microcapsule by a spray drying method.
