METHOD FOR CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS OF EXCESS OF FLUORIDE IONS IN DENTAL ENAMEL DUE TO FLUORINE OVERLOADING

A method for the clinical diagnosis of the excess of fluoride ions in the dental enamel due to fluorine overloading comprises etching of the enamel of 11 or 21 intact tooth with 1 N (3 %) hydrochloric acid followed by the assessment of coloration intensity upon staining with the aqueous solution of 1 % methylene blue. The enamel is etched with the acid one time for 10 seconds. For precipitating the changes in the permeability of the etched enamel, 0.15 % aqueous solution of aminofluoride (calculated as fluoride ions) or 2 % aqueous solution of sodium fluoride is applied for 3-15minutes. For increasing the permeability of the enamel following fluorine overloading, methylene blue solution is applied for 10 seconds.
