The display device (1) has a retention device (2) secured with an image generator for creation of an image. A control unit controls the image generator. The retention device is secured with a multi-functional glass (3) that comprises a transmissive/reflective type coupling region and an uncoupling region, where the formed image is linked over the coupling region into the glass and uncoupled over the uncoupling region to detect a user mounting the retention device. The coupling region images the formed image as an intermediate image into an intermediate image plane lying in the glass. The multi-functional glass is a plan-parallel plate. The regions are Fresnel structures.
