<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible technique for digital representation and generation of realistic fur coats on geometric models of surfaces, such as animals. <P>SOLUTION: A hair pipeline for generating a hair comprises surface definition module to define a surface, and an optimization module to determine whether a hair is to be rendered upon the surface. The optimization module determines a size metric for the hair; applies a first density curve to the size metric determined for the hair to generate a density multiplier value; and, based upon the density multiplier value, determines whether the hair should be rendered. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
