<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifoaming agent for use in fermentation excellent in dispersibility in water during preparation of an antifoaming agent diluent without forming sedimentation and oil droplets after having passed a heating and bactericidal process, and having a strong antifoaming effect on foaming in a fermentation medium when the diluent is added to the medium. <P>SOLUTION: The antifoaming agent for use in fermentation includes a reaction product obtained by adding 4-17 mol propylene oxide to 1 mol mixture obtained by mixing an oil and fat having a 40-130 iodine value with ≥1 kinds of compounds selected from the group consisting of glycerol and glycerol propylene oxide adducts (1-4 mol) in 3/2-1/2 molar ratio, subsequently block-adding 20-40 mol ethylene oxide and 70-110 mol propylene oxide in the order.
