<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output image with high gloss uniformity by eliminating uneven contact between a refresh roller 63 and a fixing belt 51 that is generated by steering of the fixing belt 51, and reducing nonuniformity of a surface state of the fixing belt 51 that has been adjusted by a polishing mode. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing belt 51 coming into contact with an image surface of a recording material P and heating the image is controlled to deflect by a steering roller 52. During the image formation, the refresh roller 63 is separated from the fixing belt 51, however, when performing the polishing mode, comes into contact with the fixing belt 51 to adjust the surface state of the fixing belt 51. In the polishing mode, the maximal tilt angle of the steering roller 52 is set smaller than that in the image formation so as to tilt it in a narrower tilt angle range than that in the image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
