<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide composite nanoparticles, nanoparticles, and methods for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: In various aspects, the methods for producing the nanoparticle within a crosslinked and collapsed polymeric material is provided, which includes: (a) a step of providing a polymeric solution containing a polymeric material; (b) a step of collapsing at least a portion of the polymeric material about one or more precursor moieties; (c) a step of crosslinking the polymeric material; and (d) a step of modifying a portion of the precursor moieties to form one or more nanoparticles, thereby forming a composite nanoparticle. In various embodiments, an unconfined nanoparticle can be produced by complete pyrolysis of the confined nanoparticle, and a carbon-coated nanoparticle can be produced by incomplete pyrolysis of the confined nanoparticle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
