<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge protection circuit of a power supply that meets insulation resistance and withstand voltage required for an instrument and has a reduced influence of a surge voltage when a load circuit in which a signal ground and a frame ground are connected to each other is connected. <P>SOLUTION: A surge protected power supply comprises: an input end in which AC power or DC power is supplied; an output end that outputs DC power; a transformer that electrically insulates an input-side circuit and an output-side circuit; a converter that converts the AC power or the DC power supplied to the input end into DC power with a predetermined voltage and supplies the converted DC power to the output end; and a protection circuit that absorbs a surge voltage. The input end includes first and second input terminals (L and N), and the output end includes a first output terminal (-V) with low potential and a second output terminal (+V) with higher potential than the first output terminal.
