<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the convenience of a tonneau cover device. <P>SOLUTION: If a latch switch 37 is in an abnormal state, it is determined that the latch switch 37 is in an on-state, even if it is determined that a back door is closed through a courtesy switch 38. Thus, a tonneau cover 42 is kept in a storage position without being set in an extension position. Even if the back door is opened in this state, the tonneau cover 42 is kept in the storage position.
