A method of modifying excitation response characteristics of a structural system, including an aerofoil blade mounted to a support disc, including the steps: (a) identifying a limit cycle associated with the system; (b) determining the amplitude of the limit cycle; (c) comparing the amplitude of the limit cycle against a threshold value; and (d) if the amplitude of the limit cycle is greater than a threshold value, modifying the system to reduce the amplitude of the limit cycle. |
