<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: when a black solid image is displayed in a dummy pixel portion, maximum (or minimum) voltage is kept applying to a dummy pixel electrode but halftone voltage is applied to a pixel electrode on average, and this potential difference generates a lateral electric field, which moves ionic impurities included in a liquid crystal layer to be unevenly distributed, so that stain-like display unevenness is caused. <P>SOLUTION: An electro-optic device includes on a substrate, a display pixel portion having pixel electrodes arranged and dummy pixel electrodes arranged surrounding the display pixel portion in a plan view. The dummy pixel electrode is electrically in a floating state. The distance between the dummy pixel electrode and the pixel electrode is shorter than the distance between the pixel electrodes. Therefore, the potential of the dummy pixel electrode is closer to the potential of the adjacent pixel electrode.
