<p>A rotational assembly comprises a first shaft 12 having a plurality of outer splines 22 and a second shaft 14 having a plurality of inner splines 28 on an axially extending shaft recess 24. The first shaft 12 is located with the shaft recess 24 such that the outer splines 22 are engaged with the inner splines 24. At least one biasing element 30 is also provided which is arranged to rotationally bias the first and second shafts 12, 14 towards one another such that the driving faces of the inner and outer splines are forced together. The biasing reduces backlash between the splines 22 & 28. There may be a plurality of biasing elements 30 on either the first 12 and/or second shafts 14. Preferably the biasing elements 30 are mounted on pegs 34 36 and are resilient deformable. The splined coupling may be used in a gas turbine engine.</p> |
