[Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A plugging contact device, for completing the electrical connection between a fluorescent lamp 4 and the supply circuit therefor when the casing 3 enclosing the lamp is assembled in a supporting framework 1, comprises an insulated blade 15 fixed to the cover 5 and having contacts 16, one on each side thereof, connected to the primary winding of the transformer 6 supplying the tubular fluorescent lamp 4, the contacts 16 being adapted to engage supply contacts 17. One of the latter contacts is spring-pressed towards the other so that when the casing 5 is detached from the framework 1 the two contacts engage, so that if a number of transformers 6 (each associated with a lamp 4) are connected in series, the series circuit is not broken when a fitting is removed for inspection or repair. |
