A resilient hollow retention fit ball and socket joint (1 figure 2) comprising a first duct 10 terminating in a socket 30, a second duct 20 terminating in a ball 40, the socket defining a mouth 18 and the ball being adapted to closely fit in the socket through the mouth thereof to reach a fitted condition. The radius of curvature of an inner surface of the socket is smaller than the radius of curvature of an outer surface of the ball and the maximum diameter of the ball is greater than the diameter of the mouth. The joint may be manufactured from a plastics material such as polypropylene. There is an independent claim to manufacture by a blow-moulding method. The joint is particularly suitable for use in the HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system of a vehicle. |
