PURPOSE: A light source unit and a projector are provided to individually control the light emission of two kinds of light source devices and an excited light projector, thereby improving brightness by injecting not only monochromatic lights but also composite lights. CONSTITUTION: A light source unit comprises an excitation light irradiation device(70), a fluorescent plate, a light source side optical system, and a light source controlling member. The excitation light irradiation device emits excited lights. The fluorescent plate has a fluorescence emitting region. The excited lights are irradiated to the fluorescence emitting region by the excitation light irradiation device so that fluorescent plate generates fluorescent lights of a predetermined wavelength band. The light source device generates wavelength band lights different from the fluorescent lights generated by the fluorescent plate. The light source side optical system collects the fluorescent lights generated by the fluorescent plate and the lights generated by the light source device on a predetermined surface. The light source controlling member individually controls the light emission of the excitation light irradiation device and light source device, thereby injecting monochromatic lights or composite lights. |
