PURPOSE: A portable terminal power control method and apparatus therefor are provided to reduce the power consumption of a battery by managing the state of GPS and Wi-Fi(Global Positioning System and Wireless Fidelity). CONSTITUTION: A first location collection unit(201) receives one or more AP information. When an operation sense apparatus senses motions, a control unit(207) converts an off-state into an on-state in the state of the first location collection unit. The control unit controls the first location collection unit for receiving AP information from one or more AP. The control unit controls the state of a first location collection unit and a second location collection unit by comparing one or more AP with an AP information list.
