PURPOSE: A speed detecting device for an electric bicycle is provided to prevent the damage and abrasion of a hall sensor because a permanent magnet is installed in a driving wheel of an electric bicycle and the hall sensor for detecting the rotation of the permanent magnet is directly connected to the driving wheel inside a motor top cover. CONSTITUTION: A speed detecting device for an electric bicycle comprises a driving wheel(10), a motor(20), a motor cover(30), a hall sensor unit, and a permanent magnet(50). The motor is directly coupled to the driving wheel. The motor cover is coupled to a surface facing the inner surface of the driving wheel of the motor. The hall sensor unit is installed in the motor cover. The permanent magnet faces the hall sensor unit at least one time whenever the driving wheel rotates one revolution.
