<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device enabled to uniformly irradiate a light guide plate as a whole, without giving rise to increase of the number of light sources or processing of the light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device 10 is so arranged that LEDs 33a, 33b are arrayed in parallel in two rows and an optical axis direction of emission light is to cross a light guide plate 13, and is provided with an optically coupling member 35 having a contact region between the light guide plate 13 and the LED 33a, 33b, in contact with the light guide plate 13 and extended in an alignment direction of the LEDs 33a, 33b and coupling the emission light of the LEDs 33a, 33b so as to be incident aslant into the light guide plate 13 through the contact region. The optically coupling member 35 is to guide the emission light of the LEDs 33a, 33b arranged at each row to separate regions of the light guide plate 13 with the contact region as a boundary.
