<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily increase the variation of performance of oil seals in a shock absorber having the oil seals for sealing the outer periphery of a rod. <P>SOLUTION: The shock absorber A includes a cylinder 1 storing an operating fluid; the rod 2 inserted in an axially movable manner in the cylinder 1; and the oil seals 3, 4, 5 formed in annular shape and mounted to the opening side end of the cylinder 1 to come in sliding contact with the outer periphery of the rod 2.
