<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of determining whether the refrigerator is in a shop display operation or in a normal operation, and thereby capable of preventing errors. <P>SOLUTION: A refrigerator includes a control means 55 for controlling the refrigerator 21 in a normal mode and in a demonstration mode for shop display, a cooling functional component for cooling the inside of the refrigerator at an appropriate temperature, and an failure display means 45 for indicating failure when the cooling functional component is abnormal. When powered on during the normal mode and the cooling functional component is connected with the control means 55, the control means 55 determines that the refrigerator is normal and does not indicate failure on the failure display means 45. When powered on during the demonstration mode and the cooling functional component is not connected with the control means, the control means indicates failure on the failure display means 45.
