摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control an air-fuel ratio even if a load change occurs during a transition where a load changes rapidly, or during fuel cut. <P>SOLUTION: When a load change is detected (step S33), if the load change occurs during a transition where a load changes rapidly, fuel is injected in such a manner that the center of a fuel injection period is positioned before a closing operation of an intake valve, during an intake stroke while the load changes rapidly (step S32). If the load change occurs during fuel cut, fuel is injected in such a manner that the center of the fuel injection period is positioned before the closing operation of the intake valve, during an intake stroke before performing the fuel cut and when recovering from the fuel cut.
