MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR GLASS SUBSTRATE FOR MAGNETIC DISK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a glass substrate for a magnetic disk with high strength and having fewer damages and cracks on a surface.

SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for a glass substrate for a magnetic disk includes the following in this order: a precise wrapping step of grinding a surface of a glass substrate precursor with a disk-like shape manufactured by a direct press method; an end face polishing step of polishing an outer peripheral end face and an inner peripheral end face of the glass substrate precursor; and a main surface polishing step of polishing a surface of the glass substrate precursor. A chemical processing step for processing the surface of the glass substrate precursor is included between the end face polishing step and the main surface polishing step.
