METHOD FOR PRODUCING MONOCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon producible of a 6-8C monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon at a high yield from a raw material oil containing a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.

SOLUTION: This method for producing a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon producible of a 6-8C monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon has: a decomposing and reforming reaction step in which a raw material oil is brought into contact with a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon production catalyst containing a crystalline aluminosilicate, and reacted, to thereby obtain a product containing a 6-8C monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon; a hydrogenation reaction step in which the product generated in the decomposing and reforming reaction step is hydrogenated; a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon recovery step in which the 6-8C monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon separated from a hydrogenated reactant obtained in the hydrogenation reaction step is recovered; and a recycle step in which a ≥9C heavy fraction separated from the hydrogenated reactant obtained in the hydrogenation reaction step is returned to the decomposing and reforming reaction step.
