<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight tree climbing assisting tool for evading a safety rope absent state when replacing a hook and reducing impact loads if an operator falls, and a tree climbing method using the assisting tool. <P>SOLUTION: An anchor part is constituted by winding a choke anchor belt 2A provided with an eye part on one end of the belt and provided with a plurality of ring parts in a multi-link manner at and near the other end around a tree, and one hook 13a of a falling prevention rope 1 connected to an on-column safety belt 3 is connected to the eye part of the choke anchor belt 2A. Then, a choke anchor belt 2B is arranged at a high position, and the other hook 13b is connected with the eye part of the choke anchor belt 2B. By climbing the tree while repeating the step, at least one hook of the falling prevention rope 1 is connected to the choke anchor belt at all times, and falling is prevented.
