<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator that generates power by properly distributing heat quantities to a plurality of heat cycles according to a change in heat source. <P>SOLUTION: The generator 100 has a plurality of power generation cycles 1a, 1b and includes: a branched heating-medium supply channel 12 that supplies a heating medium to an evaporator 2 of each power generation cycle 1a, 1b; a branched heating-medium discharge channel 13 that discharges the heating medium from the evaporator 2; a branched cooling-medium supply channel 16 that supplies a cooling medium to a condenser 4; a branched cooling-medium discharge channel 17 that discharges the cooling medium from the condenser 4. A heating-medium shutoff valve 18 is provided in at least one of the branched heating-medium supply channel 12 and the branched heating-medium discharge channel 13.
