<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: an RO membrane can filter up to ionic components dissolved in a solvent and is very useful; however, since its initial cost is high and its running cost is very high, while pure water is required in various aspects, a method for obtaining pure water more inexpensively is required. <P>SOLUTION: This desalting method includes a dispersant addition process in which a scale dispersant having a prescribed particle size or at least a prescribed molecular weight is added into water to be treated and a filtration treatment process in which the water to be treated with the scale dispersant added is treated with a filter membrane other than the RO membrane which has a pore diameter smaller than the molecule of the scale dispersant or has a fractionation molecular weight smaller than the molecular weight of the dispersant.
