PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP panel structure in which original discharge characteristics possessed by a protection film can be maintained by absorbing/removing impurity gas such as water and carbon dioxide before entering into a panel, and preventing the impurity gas from coming into contact with an active protection film material, and to provide a method of manufacturing the PDP panel structure.

SOLUTION: An adsorption material 1 constituted of a calcium oxide or the like is disposed around a seal 6 for air tightness between a front side glass substrate 2 and a rear side glass substrate 3. The impurity gas is prevented from flowing in the PDP inside by absorbing the impurity gas flowing in from the outside during calcination with this absorption material 1.
