<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporarily reserving method for preventing a pipe or a wire from falling via a through-hole during a connecting work of the pipe and wire and a retaining tool used for the method. <P>SOLUTION: In order to connect a pipe 7a or a wire 7b with a manufacturing equipment 3 installed inside a double-bottomed working room 100 where an upper floor surface 1 is supported by a basal floor surface, the pipe 7a or the wire 7b is temporarily reserved on the upper floor surface 1. At that time, in order to prevent the pipe 7a or the wire 7b from falling via the through-hole 6 provided on the upper floor surface 1, a retaining tool has an outer form larger than the through-hole 6 and is provided with a slit 11a that reaches from a center d4 of the retaining tool to an outer rim d1 thereof and the width thereof is larger than a diameter of the pipe 7a or wire 7b and is smaller than a diameter of a coupling member 8b.
