<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which exposure controls mounted on a general digital camera and video camera may cause poor visibility by occurrence of blown-out highlights and blocked-up shadows when a scene with a wide dynamic range is photographed. <P>SOLUTION: In an image signal processing apparatus, input and output characteristic control means controls imaging means so as to particularly reduce pixels with blown-out highlights in a high-brightness portion of a signal, by using subject information obtained from subject recognition means and brightness statistic information obtained from brightness statistic information calculation means and also controls image signal correction means so as to particularly reduce pixels with blocked-up shadows in a low-brightness portion of a signal, by using the brightness statistic information. Alternatively, the input and output characteristic control means controls imaging means so as to particularly reduce the pixels with blocked-up shadows in a low-brightness portion of a signal, by using the brightness statistic information obtained from the brightness statistic information calculation means and also controls the image signal correction means so as to particularly reduce pixels with blown-out highlights in the high-brightness portion of the signal, by using the brightness statistic information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
