<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform efficient updating processing. <P>SOLUTION: An ontology updating device 101 includes a generation unit 202, an updating unit 204, a detection unit 205, and a notification unit 206. When a class belonging to a certain package has a relation with a class belonging to another package, the generation unit 202 generates an update reference relation to associate the another package as an update reference package. When an arbitrary first class is updated, the updating unit 204 updates the first class and a first package to which the first class belongs. The detection unit 205 detects whether or not there is an update object package associated with the updated first class among the update reference packages of the updated first package by using the update reference relation.
