<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine and an oil ring that can appropriately discharge oil through a clearance between a top face of a ring and a top face of a groove. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine includes a piston 10, and the oil ring 40 attached to a third ring groove 13 which is a ring groove formed at a peripheral surface of the piston 10 and at a location more distant from a combustion chamber than a location of a ring groove to which a compression ring is attached. The oil ring 40 is equipped with a ring body 41 and a coil expander 45 which is located at an inner side of the ring body 41 in the radial direction and energizes the ring body 41 to the radially external direction.
