<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbine rotor blade fixing structure and a blade root spring removal method that allow replacement of a blade root spring in a short period of time without damaging the blade root of the turbine rotor blade and the rotor blade groove. <P>SOLUTION: Each blade root spring 3 is formed into a spherical shape by spirally winding a linear member. The blade root spring 3 is formed such that its radial natural length is longer than a height H of a groove clearance between the front end surface 24 on the blade groove side of a blade root 21 and the bottom face 14 of a blade groove 11. The blade root 21 of a turbine rotor blade 20 is moved in the longitudinal direction of the groove clearance 2. When the blade root 21 is moved, the blade root spring 3 in contact with the front end surface 24 on the blade groove side of the blade root 21 is rotated in an advancing direction of the blade root 21 and works as a roller.
