<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating film forming method for forming a coating film that presents metallic texture in a highlight (near the regular reflection) applicable to various industrial products, especially a panel of automobile and represents the texture of a CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) in a shade (watermark direction). <P>SOLUTION: The coating film forming method is provided for applying onto the surface of the CFRP a light interference coating material composition containing a light interference pigment and having a parallel light transmittance of a coating in the range of 30-80%, the coating film being obtained by applying the light interference coating material composition so as to have 15 μm thickness as a cured coating film.
