<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode material useful for manufacturing a lithium ion secondary battery which has high resistance to overdischarge. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode material in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is used in a positive electrode of a lithium ion secondary battery, and contains a metallic oxide containing at least Li, Mn, Cr, and O.
