<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat transfer medium capable of obtaining a desired wear reducing effect even when the amount of a surfactant to be added to an aqueous solution is minimized. <P>SOLUTION: The heat transfer medium which is circulated between a heat supply-side system and a heat demand-side system to transfer heat includes an aqueous solution containing a quaternary ammonium salt and an anionic polymer.
