<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for diagnosis of failure in an engine, capable of reducing diagnostic manhours, and capable of achieving simplification of a constitution, by easily determining whether the occurrence of a misfire is caused by mechanical failure and in which cylinder the mechanical failure is caused. <P>SOLUTION: The method and device 14 for diagnosis of failure in the engine 16 determine cylinders 22a-22d being a predetermined value or less in a variation value Δω as a compression pressure insufficient cylinder being insufficient in compression pressure, by detecting the variation value Δω of angular velocity of a crankshaft 24 corresponding to an explosion process with every cylinder 22 in a cranking rotation state, by generating the cranking rotation state for rotating the crankshaft 24, while stopping an explosion in the respective cylinders 22a-22d. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
