<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control contact and separation operation in an image forming apparatus with a contact and separation mechanism with a black monochrome mode and a color mode so as to reduce frequency of ATVC control, and thereby reduce downtime of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where a job to perform a black monochrome mode and then a color mode is set, and integrated values of the black monochrome mode and the subsequent color mode respectively reach a value sufficient for performing ATVC control, an image forming apparatus performs the ATVC control, a first image formation, and a second image formation with a second mode of a contact and separation mechanism used for the color mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
