<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor that holds permanent magnets more reliably. <P>SOLUTION: In a consequent pole (half-magnet) rotor 21, permanent magnets 26 are housed in respective fitting holes 25a of magnet magnetic pole portions 25 of a rotor core 23 and are prevented from moving radially.
