<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an ink discharge head, and the ink discharge head having a water repellent layer which prevents performance from being deteriorated due to friction. <P>SOLUTION: The ink discharge head includes: a plate-like substrate 11; a heater 12 formed on one surface of the substrate 11; a flow channel wall 14b for partitioning an ink chamber having at least the heater 12 and formed on the one surface of the substrate 11; a nozzle layer 14a formed on the flow channel wall 14b and having a discharge hole A for discharging ink; and the water repellent layer 15 formed on an upper surface of the nozzle layer 14a.
