The method involves providing a material i.e. roller (1), in a chamber (3), and allowing the material to rotate freely with respect to a shaft (6). A cleaning fluid e.g. solvent, is sprayed through a spraying unit (7) at a spray pressure so as to induce rotation of the material. Spraying of the spraying unit is blocked based on a detection transition pressure threshold so as to allow rotation of the material due to inertia. The blocking of the spraying is carried out with pressure lower than or equivalent to 3 bars. Pressure is detected by a non-return valve. An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning a material soiled with paint, waterborne ink, grease and glue.
