<p>The invention relates to a method for inspecting the tread of a tyre, having a tread design formed by the assembly of circumferentially juxtaposed elements separated by boundaries having identical shapes, and having a reduced number of basic patterns sequenced in a precise and known manner, comprising at least one basic pattern on which wear indicators are arranged, with which a characteristic point of said basic pattern is associated, wherein: an image of the surface of the tread of the tyre to be inspected is produced; the wear indicators on the image of the tread of the tyre to be inspected are identified; the wear indicators are grouped into sub-sets corresponding to the basic pattern comprising wear indicators, and the characteristic point of each of said sub-sets is determined; a sequence of distances is determined by calculating the distances between the characteristic points of each of said sub-sets of wear indicators identified on the surface of the tread to be inspected; said sequence of distances is coincided with the known sequence of the distances between the characteristic points of the basic patterns; and the shape of the boundary between the elements is projected onto the surface to be inspected according to the known positioning sequence of said elements.</p> |
