PURPOSE: An ISG control method for preventing the abnormal start of an engine is provided to use the information on the traveling state of a vehicle without additional hardware. CONSTITUTION: An ISG control method for preventing the abnormal start of an engine comprises following steps. Control logic is converted into an ISG stop state according to the condition of ISG logic. The fail of a start relay circuit of the a ISG control circuit is determined(S20). The current vehicle speed and engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) are detected, and whether or not the speed and engine RPM satisfy a value necessary for conversion is determined if the start relay circuit is normal. A control value for operating a brake unit is calculated on the basis of the current vehicle speed, engine RPM and a vehicle state information value if the value for the conversion into the ISG stop state is not satisfied. The vehicle is stopped and the conditions for conversion into an ISG stop state are satisfied.
